About Us

Swallowtail School is an independent, non-profit school newly located in Cornelius, Oregon. We purchased our new building in March 2016, and are beginning our 22nd year as a school here. The school is a community of children, their families, teachers and friends, united by a focus on a well-rounded, rigorous, and creative education. Waldorf schools teach all the traditional academic disciplines, plus much more, with a unique and distinctive approach.

Swallowtail owns a 26-acre property on the west side of Hillsboro which we use as an auxiliary campus – the Farm Campus. On the farm we have woods, wetland, and prairie environments to explore. There is also ample wildlife to observe, in addition to domestic farm animals which the children help care for. The Early Childhood classes spend one day/week at the farm campus, when weather permits. The Grades children take a school bus to the farm campus once per month, although they will go more often as their curriculum dictates.
